Spring 2026 #1/10: First Week of Spring Raab!
The buds, the birdsong, the rains and subsequent mud. The little bits of growth peeking out from below the soil--they're all letting us know that Spring is here (and it is time to get cracking).
Our Springtime schedule begins this week! We will still be open on Tuesdays from 12-7 and Wednesdays 10-5 for both CSA pickup and shopping. And thankfully, the kind folks at North 47 Brewing Company in Browns Point have agreed to host CSA pickups on Wednesdays from 4-7pm once again this year. If you're in the vicinity of Browns Point, NE Tacoma or Federal Way and would prefer to pick up a pre-packed share at their taproom (or maybe stop for a pint or growler fill while you're at it), please let us know by Wednesday morning. I'll miss seeing you in person, but I'm so thankful that this option helps make it easier for some of you to pick up shares from us.
We couldn’t be more thankful for a dry Monday—nor can I think of a tastier, more lovely way to start a new season than with flowering “Raab” Mix. Kelly, Maple & Claire harvested a big variety of overwintered greens (Collard, Kale, Cabbage & etc) that are beginning to sprout and form flowers. This is part of these plants’ natural lifecycle, and each Spring we get to enjoy a sweet and tender treat that can be eaten stem, leaf, floret and all.I've said it before but Spring really is our most diverse season of the year, with one foot in Winter as we round out March and another one reaching out toward Summer in May. Soon, we will have worked our way through the last of the overwintering crops and enjoy new growth. It is truly uncanny how much will happen in the next 10 weeks, so let's have some fun watching it all unfold, shall we?
Happy Spring,
Katie
