ABOUT OUR CSA
With Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), we grow for you and you help us grow!
By investing in your share of the harvest, you help our farm start out each season with the working capital we need to grow a variety of fresh and flavorful certified organic produce for you and our farm community as a whole.
Being a part of a CSA is a great way to make the most of your spending dollars. You make a pre-payment, and we give you 6-10 types of produce per week — at least 10% in additional value. When multiplied over full seasons, you can really save big. We maintain herb gardens, and extra vegetable beds throughout the season that share members are invited to harvest from — free of charge. CSA members can also make the most of a 10% discount on purchases of additional produce at the farm & our market stands.
What size share should I purchase?
We have two share sizes to choose from, large and small.
Large share: Valued at $30 a week and we recommend for about two to four people, depending on your veggie eating habits and how often you cook at home.
Small share: Valued at $20 a week and will feed one to three people.
In the Fall, Winter and Spring, we also have a Green Veg Only share, which is smaller than our small share but provides an option for people who want to pass on fruit, squash and roots.
These guidelines vary greatly of course, depending on the age of the people who will be eating the share and whether or not vegetables are a main dish. Feel free to call the farm or ask at the store for further guidance.
Where and when do I pick up my share?
FALL SHARE PICKUP LOCATIONS:
- At the Farm Tues (12-7) or Wednesdays (10-5)
- Browns Point, North 47 Brewing, Wednesdays (4-7pm)
How will I know what is in my share?
The items in the share vary based on the season. Weekly newsletters will provide you with tips about what will be in the share and how the items can be used. You can check out our Newsletter Archive anytime.
Do I have to wait for the beginning of a season to start?
No. We can give you a pro-rated price so you can join up during any season at any time.
How does joining a CSA help farmers?
CSA members pay ahead of time for the produce they receive. This gives us the capital needed to start, grow, and harvest your produce. CSAs help reduce the risk of farming and provide you, the consumer, with the freshest, picked produce available.
How do I pay?
Members can join at anytime and we will prorate the share costs. Options to pay by credit or cash/check/EBT are available. The prices listed in the online store represent prepaid payments. Members may make arrangements for monthly payment plans; however, additional processing fees may apply.
Cancellations: By buying a CSA — a share of the harvest — you have made a commitment to the farm for a season. We commit to you to grow produce for the season. Therefore, we can only give store credit for cancellations, not cash refunds. If you are moving out of the area, we encourage you to sell or gift your share. If there are extenuating circumstances, please let us what they are and we will try to work out a fair solution for all.
Should I bring anything with me when I pick up my share?
We encourage people to reduce and reuse wherever possible, so feel free to bring your favorite boxes, baskets, bags or cartons from home.
What if I can't pick up my share?
Illness, vacations or just forgot!! Life happens, but if we're in the know, we can help make alternate arrangements with you. During the summer share season, we are happy to arrange an alternate pick-up day if you give us a week's notice. We are pretty flexible since you pick up your share at the farm and not at a drop-off point, so we can often make arrangements for you to pick extra, or double-up when you miss. Please let us know ahead of time! Running late? Call or text and we will bag up your share and make available for you to pick up after hours. You may ask a friend or family member to pick up your share if you will be out of town, otherwise, we are more than happy to donate your share if you are not able to use it on any given week.
What are the contents in the share?
We work with a set harvest list for each week and are not able to customize shares. We encourage you to try everything, and if you need inspiration or guidance, be sure to check the newsletter for recipes and tips. And when in doubt, check with a staffer. We don't just grow the stuff — we like to cook and enjoy it too! We do offer a trading table so you can trade an item you may not like for something else on the table.
Is there a farmstand store discount?
Share members get a 10% discount on most other items available in our store when you are a current member.
We will never sell, barter, give away or rent your personal information to anyone, ever! We ask for your email so we can send you details about your CSA share and the weekly newsletter.
