Summer #15/18: Making the Most of Summer in September
I’m going to keep things short and sweet today, but don’t let that trick you into thinking that the fields have relented. There’s still plenty of Summer left in September! Maple, Mia & Kelly have really put the Labor in Labor Day, snagging little Cantaloupes, picking loads of Tomatoes and clearing the last round of fresh Sweet Onions, and we’ll pick up with fresh greens, lettuces and more tomorrow. Here’s the week in a nutshell:
Yes, Bulk Romas and Cherry Tomatoes will be available at the farm stand.
Organic Heirloom Apples are starting to trickle in from Okanogan.
Fall CSA Invoices and renewal invoices will go out by the weekend!
I hope you grab a nice slice of bread or two and have an incredible B.L.T. (or A.L.T.) or make a stunning Tomato Salad.
…And if you’re ready to start stashing a few away for cooler days ahead, this is worth a read through. (Oven Roasted Marinara? YES PLEASE.)
…And if you like what you see there, check out Preserving Italy by Domenica Marchetti. I’ve made batches of Tomato Paste using her recipe for the past couple of years, and it makes me feel like I’m weekending in Sicily even though I’m chasing away the Sunday Scaries.
Take care,
Katie
