With Community Supported Agriculture (CSA),we grow for you and you help us grow!
By investing in your share of the harvest, you help our farm start out the season with the working capital we need to grow an abundance of quality produce for you and your family.
CSA is a great way to extend your spending dollars. You make a pre-payment, and we give you 6-10 types of produce per week — at least 10% in additional value. When multiplied over full seasons, you can really save big. We maintain herb gardens, and extra vegetable beds throughout the season that share members are invited to harvest from — free of charge. CSA members can make the most of a 10% discount on purchases of additional produce at the farm & our market stands.
What size share should I purchase?
We have two share sizes to choose from, large and small.
Large share: Valued at $30 a week and we recommend for about two to four people, depending on your veggie eating habits and how often you cook at home.
Small share: Valued at $20 a week and will feed one to three people.
In the winter we also have a greens share, which is smaller than our small share but provides an option for people who are not fond of winter roots and potatoes. It can be bought, in addition to, one of the above shares if you desire more greens.
These guidelines vary greatly of course, depending on the age of the people who will be eating the share and whether or not vegetables are a main dish. Feel free to call the farm or ask at the store for further guidance.
How will I know what is in my share?
The items in the share vary based on the season. Weekly newsletters will provide you with tips about what will be in the share and how the items can be used.
Do I have to wait for the beginning of a season to start?
No. We can give you a pro-rated price so you can join up during any season at any time.
What joining a CSA means: CSA members pay ahead of time for the produce they receive. This gives us the capital needed to start, grow, and harvest your produce. CSAs help reduce the risk of farming and provide you, the consumer, with the freshest, picked produce available.
Payments: Members can join at anytime and we will prorate the share costs. Options to pay by credit or cash/check/EBT are available. The prices listed in the online store represent prepaid payments. Members may make arrangements for monthly payment plans; however, additional processing fees may apply.
Cancellations: By buying a CSA — a share of the harvest — you have made a commitment to the farm for a season. We commit to you to grow produce for the season. Therefore, we can only give store credit for cancellations, not cash refunds. If you are moving out of the area, we encourage you to sell or gift your share. If there are extenuating circumstances, please let us what they are and we will try to work out a fair solution for all.
Picking up your share: Members pick up their share at the farm store on the day you have chosen. We do not deliver to drop-off sites. During fall, winter, and spring shares pick-up days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays during store hours. If you can't make it during store hours, let us know and we will bag up your share and leave it in front of the store for you to pick up at your earliest convenience. Summer share: Choose between the following pick up options: Tuesdays/Wednesdays or Fridays/Saturdays. You can switch days if needed; just let us know.
What if I can't pick up my share: Illness, vacations or just forgot!! During fall, winter or spring shares, please let us know and we will bag up your share and make available for you to pick up after hours. We also suggest you ask a friend or neighbor to pick up your share if you will be out of town. We can donate your share also.
During the summer share season, we are happy to arrange an alternate pick-up day if you give us a week's notice. We are pretty flexible since you pick up your share at the farm and not at a drop-off point, so we can often make arrangements for you to pick extra, or double-up when you miss. Please let us know ahead of time!
Contents of your share: We choose what will be in the share each week and set up on tables in the farm store. We label each item with the amount you can choose. We encourage you to try everything. We do not offer substitutions. We often have a trading table so you can trade an item you may not like for something else on the table.
Store discount: Share members get a 10% discount on most other items available in our store when you are a current member.
